Overnight French Toast Casserole

This easy and insanely delicious overnight French toast casserole makes the perfect breakfast dish for weekends or holidays.

Equipment

  • 9x13 inch baking dish

Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf of French or Italian bread
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Topping Ingredients:

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter cut into pieces

Instructions

  • Using non-stick cooking spray or butter, grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Place the bread cubes into the baking dish.

  • In a bowl, mix together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar and vanilla. Pour evenly over bread.

  • Cover your pan with plastic wrap tightly and refrigerate overnight.

  • In a medium bowl mix together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

  • Using a pastry blender or 2 forks, cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly. Cover and store in the refrigerator overnight.

  • In the morning, preheat the oven to 350F.
  • Remove the pan from the refrigerator. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly over the bread.

  • Bake for 45-60 minutes until the bread is as soft as you prefer and the top is beginning to get golden brown.

  • Serve with warm maple syrup.
