Ingredients
Simple Syrup Ingredients:
1cupwater
½cupsugar
1cupcranberriesfresh or frozen
4inchpiece of gingerpeeled and divided
2cinnamon sticks
½teaspoonwhole allspice
Sangria Ingredients:
1cup100% cranberry juice
1750mlbottle Pinot Noir red wine
½cupspiced rum
1750mlbottle apple sparkling cider
1Bartlett pearthinly sliced
½cupfresh cranberries
Optional Garnish:
cranberries
pear
ginger
rosemary sprigs
Instructions
Simple Syrup Instructions:
In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, combine water, sugar, cranberries, ⅓ of the ginger, 2 cinnamon sticks and allspice. Stir and bring the mixture to a boil.
Lower the heat to low and simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
Pour the syrup over a fine-mesh strainer set over a medium mixing bowl. Reserve the cinnamon sticks and discard the rest.
Set the syrup aside until cooled.
Sangria Instructions:
Combine simple syrup, cranberry juice, red wine, spice rum, sparkling cider, pear, and cranberries. Chill for at least 4 hours.
