Au Jus Seasoning Mix Recipe

Amazingly flavorful spice blend that makes the best French dip sauce and gravy in only minutes.

Equipment

  • small bowl

  • small saucepan

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoon powdered beef bouillon granules
  • 2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • teaspoon ground black or white pepper
  • teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine ingredients.

  • Whisk to mix thoroughly. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.

  • In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, heat 2 cups of water or beef drippings leftover from cooking a roast. Add 5 teaspoons of the homemade au jus mix to the liquid and whisk until combined.

  • Bring to a boil then lower temperature to simmer for 15 minutes until it begins to thicken.

  • Remove from heat and serve in a cup with a french dip sandwich.

Notes

Note: The color of your bouillon granules will determine the color of your gravy, if you don’t use beef drippings. If your bouillon is lighter or yellower your gravy will be yellower. It will still taste delicious!
