Mississippi Sin Dip Recipe

Delicious and cheesy dip, packed with ham, cooked and served in a bread bowl. The perfect game day snack!

Equipment

  • mixing bowl
  • cooking spoon or spatula
  • knife and cutting board
  • baking sheet

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 16 oz sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup ham diced
  • ½ cup green onions diced
  • 2 cups grated cheddar cheese (about 8 oz)
  • 1 loaf French bread round

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  • In a mixing bowl, stir together cream cheese, sour cream, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce until evenly combined.

  • Stir in ham, green onions, and cheddar cheese.

  • Slice the top of the loaf of French bread off parallel to the loaf.

  • Then scoop out as much of the bread as you can without tearing through the crust. Cut excess bread into cubes and store in an airtight container to serve with the dip.

  • Fill hollowed out loaf with the prepared dip.

  • Wrap with aluminum foil, tenting the foil loosely over the dip.

  • Bake for 35 minutes. Afterwards, remove the foil, top with some extra cheese, if desired, and bake for another 10 minutes to toast the top of the dip. Garnish with some sliced green onions and serve.

Notes

  • Tip: Soften cream cheese to almost room temperature. That way it blends smoothly with the other dip ingredients.
  • Tip: Grate your own cheese. Pre-grated cheese contains additives and therefore does not provide the same amazing flavor as freshly grated cheese.
  • Tip: Be careful when you hollow out your bread loaf. Do not cut too deep or the dip will leak out during baking.
