<p>Toaster oven baked potatoes are the perfect, easy side dish for any meal, especially if you&rsquo;re <a href="https://familydinners.com/tag/gluten-free/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">gluten-free</a> or <a href="https://familydinners.com/tag/vegetarian/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">vegetarian</a>. Plus, you can make it a meal on it&rsquo;s own with a loaded baked potato bar (psst &ndash; we&rsquo;ve listed several savory ideas further down!) </p>



<p>Cooking baked potatoes in a toaster oven gives them delightfully crispy skins with soft, fluffy insides, and it takes less energy than a regular oven. It&rsquo;s small size is perfect when you just want to make a couple baked potatoes. </p>

<p><strong>POKE POTATOES:</strong> Poke potatoes 6-8 times with a fork to vent the potato.</p>



<p><strong>PLACE ON RACK:</strong> Place potatoes directly on the middle rack of the oven or on a baking sheet.</p>

<p><meta charset="utf-8"><strong>CONTINUE BAKING:</strong> Bake for 10-15 more minutes, or until a fork will insert easily into the center of the potato. If it is still a little firm, cook longer, checking every 5 minutes.</p>



<p><strong>FLUFF AND TOP POTATOES:</strong> Slice the potato open down the middle and fluff insides with a fork. Add toppings that melt first, like butter or cheese, and place back in the toaster oven briefly. Then, add more toppings like sour cream, chives and bacon.</p>

<p><strong>Refrigerate: </strong>Baked potatoes can refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days. While the skin may not be as crispy, your leftovers will still taste just as good.</p>



<p><strong>Freeze: </strong>Fully cool and remove any toppings before freezing. Then, wrap potatoes in foil or plastic wrap and place in a sealed freezer bag without any excess air. Freeze for up to one month.</p>



<p><strong>Defrosting: </strong>Thaw in the refrigerator overnight or, for faster results, in the microwave.</p>
