What is Crack Dip?

Crack dip is a cold party snack made with cheddar cheese, real bacon, sour cream, cream cheese and ranch dip mix. This great dip is ready in just 5 minutes and tastes amazing with crackers, chips and fresh veggies. Crack dip is similar to million dollar dip, as they both contain cheese, bacon and green onions. However, while crack dip uses cream cheese and sour cream as a base, million dollar dip is made with mayonnaise instead.

Crack Dip Ingredients

Variations and Substitutions

Cheese: Substitute cheddar cheese with Colby Jack cheese, sharp cheddar, Monterey Jack cheese or mozzarella cheese.

Bacon: We prefer using freshly cooked and crumbled bacon, however, you can substitute bacon bits in a pinch.

Ranch Seasoning Mix: Use a store-bought packet or 2 tablespoons of Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix.

Add Spice: In case you want a little kick of spice in this easy cream cheese dip, adding a little bit of hot sauce is a great option. Moreover, you can add some black pepper, red pepper flakes or even ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

Make Ahead

You can make this dip several hours ahead of time. Refrigerating this bacon crack dip for a couple of hours gives the flavors time to develop and therefore improves the final taste of this delicious dip recipe.

Stef says….

I love using Air Fryer Bacon for this recipe. It is crispy, fast, easy, and delicious. And the best part, it is a lot less messy than the stovetop method!

Recipe Tips

Follow these tips to make the best game day crack dip.

  • Tip: Make sure to use softened cream cheese. That way it blends smoothly with the other dip ingredients.
  • Tip: Grate your own cheese. Pre-grated cheese contains additives and therefore does not provide the same amazing flavor as freshly grated cheese.
  • Tip: Use real bacon for this perfect dip recipe. Even though bacon bits work in a pinch, nothing beats fresh bacon flavor.

By all means!! We recommend saving some grated cheese and crispy bacon crumbs. Then sprinkle them on top of the dip together with the sliced green onions.

What are the best dippers to serve with this great dip?

As a matter of fact, this easy dip recipe pairs well with almost everything. Our favorite dippers for this delicious dip are buttery crackers, pretzels, tortilla chips, pita chips, or bagel chips. However, the indulgent ingredients of this crowd-pleasing party recipe will taste amazing on all your favorite chips and crackers.
