Recommended Tools

Pie Pan – This recipe requires a 9-inch pie plate. We love using this pie pan, because it comes with a lid for easy storage and transportation of pies. Moreover, it is also freezer safe, in case you are planning on freezing your pie crust.

Make Ahead

You can make graham cracker pie crust up to 5 days ahead of time and store it tightly wrapped in the refrigerator. You can also freeze a finished pie crust for up to 3 months, and simply defrost overnight before using.

This amazing graham cracker crust also works perfectly with my delicious Peanut Butter Chocolate Ice Cream Pie! Using just a few simple ingredients you can whip up this winner of a dessert that looks super impressive while being incredibly easy to make.

Recipe Tips

Follow these tips to make the best no bake graham cracker crust.

  • Tip: Use REAL butter. Both, salted and unsalted butter work great for pie crust. Do not use fat reduced butter or butter substitute.
  • Tip: Don’t press the crust down too firm. Make sure to push the crumbs together enough so they stick together, but not too compact.
  • Tip: Chill for at least 30 minutes. The butter forms the “glue” of the pie crust. It has to become completely cold again to bind the crust together.
  • Slice of banana pudding pie.

Freeze: Tightly wrap the no bake graham cracker pie crust in freezer safe plastic foil and freeze for up to 3 months.

Defrosting: Thaw in the refrigerator overnight or let sit on the counter for a couple of hours.

Common Questions

Is it better to use ready made graham cracker crumbs or make my own?

Both versions of graham cracker crumbs can be used in this recipe. While store bought cracker crumbs are a bit more convenient, you can also easily make your own crumbs from whole graham cracker sheets. Use a food processor, blender or simply a ziploc bag and rolling pin to crush the whole crackers into fine crumbs.

Do I have to bake this pie crust?

Baking this pie crust is not necessary, because as the melted butter in the crust cools it holds together the graham cracker crumbs. However, you can bake the crust, if you prefer. We recommend baking it at 350ºF for about 10-15 minutes. Make sure to completely cool the pie crust before using it with any “no bake” pie recipe.

Can I use flavored graham crackers?

Yes! Besides plain graham crackers you can also use cinnamon, honey or chocolate graham crackers.
