    Equipment

    1 crock pot (slow cooker)

    Ingredients

    • 12 eggs - larg

    Instructions

    • eggs in a crock pot
Place eggs in a single layer in the crock pot.
    • Pour cold water into crock pot until water covers eggs a little.
    • Place lid on crock pot.
    • Set crock pot to cook on low for 8 hours or high for 2.5 hours.
    • eggs in an ice bath
Remove eggs with a slotted spoon and place in a large bowl of ice water on the counter. This ice water bath will stop the cooking process and make the egg membranes separate from the shells to make them easier to peel. Keep in ice bath for at least 15 minutes.
    • bowl of brown eggs in front of a crock pot
Refrigerate or eel eggs and serve.

    Notes

    • Refrigerate hard boiled eggs after they have cooled all the way. These eggs can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
    • To peel the eggs, carefully crack all the way around the egg and peel the shell away from the egg gently.
    • We prefer to use large eggs or extra large eggs from the store. You can use fresh eggs though they are harder to peel.
    • This recipe calls for a dozen eggs but you can cook more or less at a time as long as they are not over crowded in the slow cooker.
    • This recipe cooks the eggs so they have a firm yolk, without being overcooked. If you want a soft boiled egg with a runny yolk and softer egg whites, cook for less time.
