Air Fryer – This recipe requires an air fryer. We have both this Cosori air fryer, which is wonderful, and this Cuisinart Air Fryer, which we also love. The Cuisinart also has convection oven and toaster oven capacity. You can buy an air fryer with a basket with high sides that food goes into or a tray type of machine. The trays are shallow but are usually longer and can accomodate more food in a single layer.

Recipe Tips

Follow these tips to make the best air fryer sausage link recipe.

  • Tip: Make sure not to pierce the skin of the sausage before cooking, otherwise juices will escape during cooking making the sausage dry.
  • Tip: Add sausages in a single layer and make sure they are not touching. That way the hot air can circulate properly. For best results flip them once during air frying.
  • Tip: Add air fryer parchment paper to the air fryer basket to avoid smoke production, in case there are some drippings.
  • Tip: Make sure to adjust cook time depending on the size of the sausages and the thickness of the sausages.

Common Questions

How do I know when my sausages are cooked through?

The best way to check if your sausage links are done is with a meat thermometer. After reaching an internal temperature of 160 degrees f, your sausages are safe to eat.

How long do sausages need to cook with the air fryer method?

The length of cooking time depends on what type of sausage you are cooking. Thin sausages generally take 8-10 minutes to cook, while thicker sausages need 10-12 minutes in the air fryer.

How do I use parchment paper in the air fryer?

It is very important to use proper parchment paper and not wax paper. You can either use specially made air fryer parchment paper liners or make your own out of regular parchment paper.
