Green Bean Ingredients

  • 12-16 oz fresh green beans
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Variations and Substitutions

Parmesan Cheese: Sprinkle with freshly grated parmesan cheese right when you remove them from the air fryer. The recipe will no longer be dairy free though.

Oil: Use an oil that can be cooked at high heat. We like cooking with avocado oil, but peanut oil, canola oil or sunflower oil would be other possible choices.

Seasonings: Get creative with your favorite seasonings. Try chili powder, red pepper flakes, cumin, curry powder, parsley or anything you like. If you use fresh garlic, don’t add it until the last 2-3 minutes of cooking.

Air Fryer – This recipe requires an air fryer. We have both this Cosori air fryer, which is wonderful, and this Cuisinart Air Fryer, which we also love. The Cuisinart also has convection oven and toaster oven capacity. You can buy an air fryer with a basket with high sides that food goes into or a tray type of machine. The trays are shallow but are usually longer and can accomodate more food in a single layer.

Instructions

This section shows how to cook fresh green beans in the air fryer, with step-by-step photos and details about the technique. For full step-by-step instructions, photos and nutritional information see the recipe in the recipe card below.

How To Store

Refrigerate: These roasted green beans taste best fresh right out of the air fryer. If you have any leftovers you can store them in an airtight container or a ziploc bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Freeze: Although we do recommend eating air fryer green beans right when they are fresh, you can also freeze leftover green beans in an airtight container or ziplock freezer bag for up to a month.

Defrosting: To defrost, put the frozen green beans on the counter until they reach room temperature and then pop them into the microwave until hot, about 1 -1 ½ minutes. The texture of defrosted and reheated green beans will be less crispy on the outside.

How To Reheat

To reheat these roasted vegetables, place them on a microwave safe plate, cover them with a paper towel and put them into the microwave for 1-1 ½ minutes, depending on your machine. Additionally you can reheat them in the air fryer.
