COOK: Afterwards, place shrimp in an even layer in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the lime and honey mixture to the non-stick pan as well. Do not discard marinade, it will turn into a yummy sticky sauce. Then keep flipping until the shrimp is pink and curled on both sides.

The shrimp taste best right after they come out of the pan. However, you can marinate the raw shrimp for up to 24 hours. Prepare the marinade as described in the recipe, add shrimp and stir to toss. Afterwards, cover tightly with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator until ready to cook.

Recipe Tips

Follow these tips to make the best honey lime glazed shrimp.

  • Tip: Marinade the shrimp for up to 8 hours. We like a longer marinade but you can do as little as 15 minutes to coat the shrimp. Refrigerate while marinating.
  • Tip: Heat the skillet so it is hot before adding the shrimp.
  • Tip: Allow the shrimp to cook, undisturbed, until the side on the skillet is browning and curling.
  • Tip: Remove shrimp from heat once it’s all pink and curled.

How To Store

Refrigerate: Firstly, let your honey lime shrimp leftovers cool completely. Afterwards transfer them to an airtight container or ziploc bag and store in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freeze: Freeze honey glazed shrimp leftovers in a freezer-safe container, heavy-duty freezer bag, or wrapped tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil for 10-12 months. However, do not refreeze previously frozen raw shrimp after you cooked them.

Defrosting: Thaw honey lime shrimp leftovers in the refrigerator overnight.

How To Reheat

A great way to reheat shrimp leftovers is in the microwave or in a small saucepan over medium heat on the stovetop.

Andrea says….

These are a family favorite. I love how easy these are to make. They take very little prep and can be tossed with pasta, added to a salad or just eaten with vegetables. It’s our personal preference to marinate them a little longer if we have time so they really soak up the flavors and the shrimp cook up even tastier.

Common Questions

What is the difference between shrimp and prawns?

Shrimp and prawns are in fact two different animals, however, their names are often used interchangeably in recipes. While shrimp are usually a bit smaller than prawns, the taste of both animals is virtually the same. For that reason, it is absolutely fine to use whichever is available, no matter whether the recipe calls for shrimp or prawns.

Is it better to buy fresh or frozen shrimp for this recipe?

Fresh, cooked shrimp usually have a slightly better texture than previously frozen shrimp. Those can end up slightly rubbery after cooking.

How do you know when shrimp is done?

A perfectly cooked shrimp has an opaque pink color with a sheen and is firm enough to curl into a nice C shape. Cooking time depends on the size of your shrimp.

How can I serve this delicious shrimp dish as a low carb meal?

Instead or rice, noodles or bread, serve these juicy shrimp over zoodles (zucchini noodles) or spaghetti squash. You can additionally serve some scrumptious Cheesy Cauliflower Breadsticks.
